Tonio Mallia appointed CEO at The St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation

Tonio Mallia has been appointed as The St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation’s new CEO.

Mr Mallia, who assumed full-dutes at the Foundation’s Valletta offices on 1st April, succeeds Cynthia de Giorgio, who had served as CEO since 2004. Ms de Giorgio will continue her role as Curator.

The St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation thanked Ms de Giorgio for her work towards the conservation of this national monument to its pristine condition.

Mr Mallia’s previous experiences include an eleven-year tenure as Director of Procurement and Contracts at the University of Malta and Director Materials Management and Logistics for Mater Dei Hospital, St Luke’s Hospital, and Boffa Hospital.

He has served as Business Development Consultant for several organisation, besides other roles in nursing, healthcare, and care for the elderly.

The St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation was established in 2001 following an agreement between the Government and the Catholic Church in Malta.

Since then, the Foundation has been the guardian of said Co-Cathedral and some of the country’s greatest artistic treasures.
