Earlier this week, Malta-based gaming company Casumo announced a new set of attractive employee benefits – ranging from a few extra days off to the establishment of a calm space within the office.
Speaking to MaltaCEOs, Casumo CEO Shelly Suter Hadad explained what drove her and her team to implement these changes.
“We always keep a finger on the pulse of our organisation – whether that be through surveys, team meetings, one-on-one chats, or other channels,” Ms Suter Hadad said.
The CEO pairs this knowledge with “research and studies being done around the world by sources like McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group and PwC.”
“What we heard is that work-life balance is more important to employees than ever before, especially as we emerge from the pandemic into a new normal,” Ms Suter Hadad continued.
The three new benefits fall under a company initiative titled ‘Finding Balance’, which seeks to do just what the title suggests.
The first benefit, ‘Free Fridays’, will see employees enjoying every Friday off throughout the month of August. “We hope that this will give our team members some much-needed time to relax and recharge with family and friends,” the CEO explained.
In the same vein, the ‘Marshmallow Island’ benefit consists of a calm space in the office environment to allow for some relaxation throughout the day.
Lastly, the ‘Find Your Focus Wednesdays’ gives employees a four-hour span mid-week wherein no meetings are held and team members are encouraged to find their focus and “work on what they want and need to work on.”
“The past year has been mentally and personally challenging for everyone. COVID impacted our personal plans, limited our freedom of movement, prevented us from seeing family and loved ones – and all of this takes a toll on people,” the CEO said.
Despite these hardships, Ms Suter Hadad said that the company’s employees worked harder than ever before, and now it’s up to Casumo to once again “help them find the space to focus and to be creative or innovative.”
“In stressful times we might not take the time to stop and listen to body and mind, recharge or simply to find space to focus, so we hope to do what we can to give space for that,” Ms Suter Hadad added.
Apart from the aforementioned initiatives, Casumo has been running wellness initiatives all year, the CEO points out. These range from mindfulness classes to a seminar on financial wellbeing. Up next for the company’s employees is a series of workshops entitled ‘The Brain Health Programme’.
