Opening its doors at the BayStreet Complex last October, Hyatt Regency Malta is the 26th Hyatt Regency hotel in Europe and Malta’s first five-star hotel superior.
Albert Galea, Group CEO, has been involved in the project right from the start, saying, on the occasion of its opening, “we have seen this project through from negotiation to opening and managed the build of this spectacular property in record time thanks to the dedication of the team and investors.”
In a recent quick-fire interview shared by the company, the CEO reveals that the one thing he’d like to do this year is travel – an unsurprising wish for a hospitality industry leader, as the pandemic continues to thwart holiday plans the world over.
Asked what advice he’d give to his younger self, Mr Galea says “when needed, embrace change quickly” – as COVID-19 continues to have major effects on the hotel industry and beyond, necessitating business re-engineering and agility, it would certainly seem to be sound advice.
And while the luxurious Hyatt Regency Malta has certainly not been spared from the blows dealt by the pandemic, the strength in the CEO’s spirit comes across in his favourite quote: “Winning is not important, it is the only thing that counts.”
