Liana Cremona, former Chief Operations Officer (COO) at shared mobility platform GoTo, took to social media to commend the company’s efforts in lieu of the news that it will be shutting down its Malta operations at the end of this month.

Ms Cremona had served as GoTo’s COO from May 2019 to February 2021.

“Though I had sought a new challenge for myself in early 2021, here’s a shout-out to the committed and visionary team that strived through thick and thin, to succeed a new mobility service that was being introduced to the Maltese islands,” the former COO wrote.

“A beautiful, colourful, and youthful team of all nationalities and creeds, of much strength and stamina who, during my tenure, ploughed on, even in such a competitive and yet developing mobility climate,” she continued.

GoTo brought its operations to Malta in 2018 and provided users access to over 450 share vehicles all over the islands. The company had also been investing in 225 electric car charging pillars, set to be installed throughout various localities around Malta and Gozo.

GoTo revealed that it will be shutting down its Malta operations yesterday in a statement published on social media and sent to users via email.

Since 2018, the company’s vehicles travelled over 10,000,000 kilometres.

“For my children and future generations alike, I pray we see a mindset shift in vehicle ownership, shared and sustainable mobility solutions. Have courage, challenge that status quo, and fight for a better world than the current,” Ms Cremona added.

“You have the ability to change the world presented to you. It warms my heart that some of you whom I had welcomed to my team, were there until the end. You were, and remain, a family to me, and I wish you a lifetime of much love and happiness, always,” she concluded.
